Derma E Vitamin E 12,000 IU Creme

Hands down, this is one of the best face creams for dry skin that I’ve tried. If your skin is flaky, dry, dehydrated and sensitive, this might just be the product you’re looking for!

The giant tub is full of a thick cream — rich in texture and yet, feels light on the skin. It strikes a perfect balance between hydrating and not feeling very heavy. And since you only need a dollop of cream, a little goes a long way. It has some fragrance (watermelon?), but the scent fades over time and is barely noticeable after 15 minutes.

The product's main highlight is "Vitamin E 12,000 IU", where IU stands for international units which is used for the measurement of vitamins. Natural Vitamin E with the INCI (chemical) name Tocopherol is an antioxidant used in cosmetic applications. As an antioxidant, vitamin E is one of the most well-researched and comprehensively discussed antioxidants. Natural vitamin E is an essential fat-soluble vitamin and is available in 8 naturally occuring compounds, and among them, d-alpha tocopherol has the most pronounced biological activity. The topical application of vitamin E has proven to be effective in reducing sun-induced skin wrinkling and is known to improve skin texture and moisture content. So the next question that comes to my mind is, since this creme contains 'vitamin E~Alpha Tocopherol 12,000 IU' — is'nt this too much for my skin? Is this product safe for daily application? Shall I be careful while using this? What if I get some skin reaction?

Let me do the math for you. This contains 12,000 IU/113 g. So that rounds up to about 106 units (~0.071 g) of alpha tocopherol per gram. And concentrations of vitamin E between 0.1%-1.0% are considered safe and effective in cosmetics. So, unless your skin is sensitive to acetic acid, this product will no cause reaction or irritation.

How to use:
After cleansing and toning, just scoop out a small amount of the cream and place it on the forehead, cheeks and chin. Use light, gentle strokes and apply with even pressure. If you’re using this as part of night time skincare routine (which I recommend), make sure you give at least half an hour for the product to adequately sink into your skin before hitting the sack. This is perfect for the winter season, as an overnight moisturizer. Suitable for dry, dehydrated skin.
